I am a single retired woman and I love to ttavel, often with one friend or another. I own a historic craftsman house in Pasadena, and also a cabin in the mountains near LA, which I rent out for weekends. Homelink has been a big part of my life since I retired from the Walt Disney Studios, where I ran a sign and graphics department for 23 years. In the 60's and again in the 70's I traveled overland from Europe to India. I'm not about to do that again at my age, but home exchange provides me with a bit of the same sense of adventure, and I find I often have a lot in common with my exchange partners, whether I meet them or not! Since 2007 I've traded, sometimes more than once, with members in Denmark, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Den Haag, London, Dublin, Budapest, Berlin, New York, Santa Barbara, San Diego, San Anselmo and Seattle. Many of these exchanges were done before Homelink had the review feature, but I'd be glad to tell you about them!

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
This is a beautiful and comfortable historic (1911) Craftsman style home in Pasadena, CA. It was included on a tour of "Significant But Less Celebrated Architects" for Pasadena's Craftsman Weekend 2010, was on the main tour in 2012 and another side tour in 2014. It is also featured in the winter 2012 issue of "American Bungalow" magazine, along with a story about my experiences with home exchange. Pasadena is a wonderful city in itself - full of great architecture, restaurants, shopping, museums - and a convenient base from which to visit the rest of LA.
Large living room with Craftsman furnishings, formal dining room, three bedrooms - two with queen beds and one with twin trundle beds - one and a half baths, office (which can be used as a fourth bedroom), den, large yard with pool and fruit trees. Close to universities, museums, shopping and restaurants. Ideal for one or two couples or a family. The house has a large enclosed back yard with fruit trees, sport court and (unheated) swimming pool - I can usually swim from May to October. All bedrooms and the full bath are on the second floor, half bath (toilet and sink) is on the ground floor.
I no longer need pet care. Previous exchangers were a wonderful help in taking care of my cat, but she is no longer with us.
I'm interested in finding an exchange to New York for Christmas 2018 - looking for a 2-bedroom, 2 bath flat in Manhattan.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
My home is one block from Bungalow Heaven, Pasadena's first historic neighborhood district (and coincidentally I designed the Bungalow Heaven sign). Just up the street are neighborhood shops and restaurants. It's a 1.3 mile walk to the Metro L (Gold) Line to Downtown LA with transfers to all of LA. McDonald Park with picnic areas, basketball and pickleball courts and a kiddie playground is a 10 minute walk away, and it's a 5 minute drive to hiking trails in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Old Town Pasadena, just a few minutes away by car or bus, is a beautifully restored vibrant downtown area with shops and restaurants. Nearby Paseo Colorado is an upscale open air shopping/dining center. More shopping and restaurants along Colorado Blvd (Route 66) and on South Lake Avenue. The Huntington Library, Gardens and Museums are a few minutes away by car, as is the Norton Simon Art Museum and the Rose Bowl, home of the famous New Years Day football game and Rose Parade.
