Salve a tutti, I am a teacher, my husband is a doctor and we are interested in home exchange. Our main home is in Perugia in Umbria in the heart of Italy on the border with Tuscany, and we have a second home in Bolzano in the Dolomites. We can host throughout the year but we travel and move mainly in the summer period or at Carnival, Easter or Christmas, because we both still work.
We have an only son, a university student. He accompanies us sometimes.
In the past about ten years ago, we had very positive home exchange experiences, again with Homelink. We have been to London twice, once to Paris and once to Nice. We interrupted the exchanges for work and organizational reasons but we always remember those experiences with great pleasure and can't wait to start again. We are very respectful of other people's things and ask others to be so too.
We are non-smokers and have no pets. Car exchange available.
When my husband and I visit a country, we love spending time in the city's museums and landmarks and learning about the history and way of life of the local people. In the same way we can inform our guests about Italian customs and traditions and recommend the most interesting places in our area, what to see and when, what and where to go to eat the best Italian cuisine.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
The house we are proposing for the exchange is an attic on the fourth floor of a quiet building with a lift, on the outskirts of Perugia near the city hospital.
The house is an attic, on the fourth and top floor of a quiet building with a lift, on the outskirts of Perugia near the city hospital. Strong points: lift, air conditioning for the summer, car parking under the house and also nearby. The apartment is 100 square meters with a living room, kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed and two bedrooms with single beds, all with iroko parquet. There are two bathrooms, both with windows, one with a bathtub, the other with a shower, as shown in the photo. There are also some lovely and friendly neighbors who live opposite our apartment. I have not posted images of the 110 square meter terrace that surrounds the apartment on three sides, because we are currently doing some repaving work on the terrace which should be finished by the summer. Car exchange available.

The district
The San Sisto district, although not central, has many shops and services such as groceries, bakeries, bars, stationery, post office, bank, pharmacy, parafarcia, public hospital, scheduled buses. A few meters from the house there is a bus stop that takes you to the historic center on the hill.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Perugia is a city of Etruscan origin with a large and very well preserved medieval historic centre, half an hour from Assisi, near Gubbio, Todi, Spello, Orvieto, Bevagna, characteristic medieval towns with churches and ancient buildings. It is also possible to go to Florence (2 hours by train) and Rome (about 2 and a half hours by train). What you can see and visit:
• the city of Perugia and the typical Umbrian-Tuscan hilly landscape where nature and human work have merged since ancient times.
My visiting tips with starting point from the house and relative distances:
• 20 minutes by bus to the medieval center of Perugia, with the 13th century Palazzo dei Priori, the Collegio del Cambio with 16th century frescoes by Perugino and the Collegio della Mercanzia, the Duomo. The Etruscan Walls and the Medieval Walls
• 20 minute drive to Lake Trasimeno and its landscape which often forms the backdrop in the paintings of Perugiano and Raphael, his pupil
• 30 minute drive to Assisi with the Romanesque/Gothic Basilica of San Francesco and the cycle of frescoes by Giotto and the most important painters of the 1200s/1300s
• 1 hour drive from Gubbio with the 13th century Town Hall and various medieval churches
• 1 hour drive from Orvieto with its 13th century Gothic cathedral where we find sculptures by L. Maitani and 15th century frescoes by L. Signorelli
• 1 hour drive from Siena, in Tuscany, with Piazza del Campo (where the famous Palio di Siena takes place), the 13th century Palazzo Comunale with frescoes by Simone Martini and Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti from the 14th century
• 30 minute drive from Cortona, a town in Tuscany
• 2 and a half hours drive from the splendid Val d'Orcia (typical Tuscan landscape)
• 2 and a half hours from Florence (by train)
